On August 2, 2022, JYP Entertainment issued an official statement containing an apology letter to some Stray Kids fans during the recording of MBC’s ‘Idol Star Athletic Championship (ISAC)’.
The following is the contents of the official request letter from JYP Entertainment for Stray Kids fans as reported by Allkpop.
“Hello, we are JYP Entertainment. We would like to apologize that the recording for the ‘2022 Chuseok Special Idol Star Athletics Championships’ did not go as planned.
First, it concerns the issue of banner fees from the fan club. We apologize for hurting fans with the agency’s improper procedures. We should feel grateful for the fans’ efforts.
We have sent a separate apology letter to the fans who participated in making the banner, and we take this opportunity to apologize once again.
Meanwhile, we would like to explain further regarding the matter of comments from staff during the ISAC program recording process and apologize.
Prior to this, we found news on social media that one of the staff threatened fans by saying they would read their letter aloud if fans didn’t stop recording. And our marketing staff recognize the truth of that.
Regarding schedules that involve many fans, including outside events or broadcast television programs, the agency usually asks for the help of staff from outside the agency to ensure that fans can attend the event safely and in an orderly manner.
We found that the problem that occurred above was caused by the inappropriate decision of a staff member who was not an agency staff.
However, we feel guilty for our inability to properly handle outside staff. So we take this opportunity to sincerely apologize to the fans who felt uncomfortable, and to all of them who were unable to enjoy the program comfortably because of this incident.
From now on, the agency promises to be even more careful, and ensure that fans who have sent their love and support to Stray Kids don’t experience this kind of experience. Thank you.”
Previously, a netizen expressed anger in the online community after learning that JYP Entertainment asked the fans who were chosen for the banner design for the ISAC 2022 event to pay the full production costs.
However, when they sent the banner to JYP Entertainment and asked for a seat to watch the ISAC match, their request was ignored, and in the end they were unable to attend the event.
