Receiving the Second Booster, Jokowi Invites All People to Vaccinate Immediately

President Joko Widodo has just received the Covid-19 vaccine for the second booster at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Thursday (24/11/2022).

The President invited all elements of Indonesian society to immediately carry out a complete Covid-19 vaccination including getting additional or booster doses of vaccines, especially for medical workers, the elderly, and people with high mobility.

“This morning I just had a booster vaccine, booster vaccine, and I invite the whole community, especially health workers, especially the elderly, and also people who have high interaction between communities,” said Joko Widodo, quoted through the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat (24/11/2022).

Until now, Indonesia is known to have injected 205 million vaccines for the first dose. Then the second dose was 172 doses of vaccine, 66 million doses for the first booster vaccine, and 730 thousand doses for the second booster vaccine.

President Jokowi also stressed the importance of booster vaccinations so that the body’s immunity increases and to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 which has not completely disappeared.

“In order for our immunity to be maintained and to stop the transmission of Covid from person to person, this is the most important,” he said.

During the fourth dose of vaccination, President Jokowi received the IndoVac vaccine. This domestically produced vaccine was developed by researchers from Airlangga University in collaboration with PT Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia.

First, President Jokowi injected the first dose of vaccine with the Sinovac brand on January 13 last year. Then the injection of the second dose was carried out on January 27, 2021.

Through this press statement, the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, reminded the importance of the public receiving booster vaccines immediately. He explained that at least 84 percent of the Covid-19 cases who died were stated to have not received a booster vaccine injection. Then, there were 74 percent of Covid-19 cases who were hospitalized with moderate to severe symptoms who had not yet received a booster vaccine.

“Only 66 million of our 234 million targets have been boosted, quickly boosted, especially for health workers and the elderly over 60 years of age also immediately do a second booster,” said the Minister of Health.

“Don’t forget to use the IndoVac booster, because it has been proven to be very effective, not inferior to foreign production,he added.

According to information from a circular letter from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, getting the fourth dose can be done at least six months after receiving the third vaccine.
