What is laryngeal cancer?

Laryngeal cancer is a health disorder that arises due to the growth of abnormal cells in the larynx.

The larynx is one of the parts of the throat where the vocal cords are located which has the function of connecting the trachea and the throat.

Apart from lung cancer, laryngeal cancer can also be caused by smoking. Laryngeal cancer cell growth can occur in the following parts, namely subglottis (located between the vocal cords and the trachea) glottis (on the vocal cords) supraglottis (located at the top of the vocal cords).

Causes of laryngeal cancer

Although the exact cause of laryngeal cancer is not known, it is thought that laryngeal cancer occurs due to DNA mutations. There are other factors that cause laryngeal cancer as follows:

  • Drink alcohol
  • Unhealthy diet
  • Aged

  • Sore throat for a long time

  • It’s hard to breathe
  • Weight loss drastically

2. Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a treatment given to patients through blood vessels using special drugs to kill cancer cells.

3. Operation

The operation is carried out by removing cancer cells by dissecting the part of the body where there is cancer.
